The Philippines' first major typhoon of the season, Typhoon Rammasun (also known as Glenda locally) made its landfall on Tuesday, 15 July while intensifying and packing winds of up to 185km/h. Rammasun is the strongest typhoon to to make landfall in Philippines since Super Typhoon Haiyan ravaged the country last November.


Typhoon Rammasun PathStrong winds knocked out power lines cutting power supply to millions of homes and businesses and forced thousands of people to evacuate from their homes in towns and cities across the country. Major roads were blocked by debris of fallen trees and power poles. Initial report from the Authorities said that there were at least 10 fatalities. Damage was said to be extensive.
