Hurricane Matthew made landfall in Haiti on 4 October. Strong winds and flooding have forced over 15,500 people to flee their homes and have left 350,000 in need of help. Thousands of people are now put up in temporary shelters while others continue to stay in their damaged homes. The current death toll from the hurricane now stands at 445.
Caritas Haiti has responded to the crisis by giving out food packages, warm meals, blankets and hygiene items to those impacted by the Hurricane. Caritas Haiti is planning to continue to distribute food and hygiene kits to prevent the spread of water borne and infectious disaeases such as Cholera.
