On the 23rd of December 2018, a tsunami hits the coast of Sunda Strait in Indonesia. There was no pre-warning sign that such a tragedy would happen. It was thought that the cause of this tsunami was due to the eruption of Anak Krakatoa volcano that happened just before the tsunami. A large chunk of the Anak Krakatoa volcano that slipped into the ocean triggered the tsunami. The affected area covers two dioceses (Bogor and Tajung Karang).
At least 222 people have been killed and 843 injured. 28 people are missing and authorities expect the death toll to rise. This tsunami was one of a series of disasters to hit Indonesia in 2018.
