On December 29, 2018, Tropical Depression Usman made landfall in Eastern Visayas, Philippines. Prior to the weather disturbance, continuous heavy rains in Bicol Region and Southern Luzon have resulted in erosion, landslides and flash floods.
As of December 31, 2018, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRaC) has recorded 71 casualties and 17 missing from 3 regions. More than 30,000 families and some still remain in evacuation centers in Camarines Sur, Albay, Laguna, Quezon, Samar and Oriental Mindoro as authorities still have issued a red alert in the areas, permitting no one from the affected communities to go back to their homes.
