What is the mission trip about?
To teach a group of 25 village girls training to be educators. We will also be taking care of children & teenagers in boarding houses & orphanages. Finally, we will be carrying out maintenance and conducting activities for 20 children in Canossa Home, Thanlyin, Myanmar.
Who can go for this trip?
Volunteers with skills in house painting, simple electrical jobs like changing electric light bulbs, gardening skills, painting pictures on the wall of a small kindergarten.
Teaching skills - Simple English skits, art & craft, games for children.
Will spiritual guidance be provided for this trip?
Spiritual guidance will be given. As we're visiting a Catholic Home, volunteers can conduct prayers and Gospel sharing with the educators.
What preparations are needed before the trip?
Interviews will be conducted for all applicants.
2 formation sessions will be held before the trip.
Caritas Humanitarian Aid & Relief Initiatives, Singapore (CHARIS) is the umbrella body for overseas humanitarian aid by the Archdiocese of Singapore. Humanitarian situations cover natural disasters and other adverse circumstances faced by the poor and needy, especially in developing countries in the region. CHARIS is a member of Caritas Singapore. It was launched on 20 August 2010 by His Grace, Archbishop Nicholas Chia.
