SUPER TYPHOON GONI HITS THE PHILIPPINES

Super Typhoon Goni (locally known as Rolly), made its first landfall in Bato, Catanduanes, Philippines, on1st November 2020. The world’s most powerful Typhoon in 2020 held maximum wind speeds of up to 280km per hour, affecting 1.9 million people in 8 of the country’s 17 regions and leaving an estimated 845,000 people in need of assistance.
Caritas Philippines/NASSA, the humanitarian development and advocacy arm of the Catholic Church in the Philippines, made an appeal on 11th November, seeking to meet the essential emergency needs of shelter, livelihood and enhanced emergency preparedness capacity of 10,000 persons affected by Super Typhoon Goni, in the provinces of Catanduanes and Albay, Philippines.
