When Kathleen joined CHARIS as a Marketing Intern, she expected to learn about content creation and communications. Instead, she discovered how her skills could serve a greater purpose.
As a cradle Catholic, she once saw CHARIS as simply another Catholic organisation. Over time, she came to understand its vital role in coordinating overseas humanitarian aid and disaster relief for the Archdiocese of Singapore. What began as an internship became a calling — using marketing as a tool to share hope, compassion, and the Good News.
At CHARIS, Kathleen found a warm and empowering environment where even as an intern, her ideas were valued. Through weekly reflections and teamwork, she grew not only professionally but spiritually. Her first mission trip to Tanjung Balai Karimun, Indonesia, opened her eyes to the strength and joy found in simplicity, deepening her understanding of service.

Over four months, she gained more than technical skills. She learned confidence, collaboration, and the courage to speak up — guided by supportive mentors Ryan and Penn who modeled faith-filled leadership.
For Kathleen, this journey showed her that when passion meets purpose, even marketing becomes mission.
