EMPOWERING FAMILIES IN MALAWI, AFRICA
St. Paul the Apostle and Mary
Mother of the Church in Benga
In a country where half of the 19 million population faces poverty and lacks access to basic necessities such as food, clean water, and healthcare, agriculture is a lifeline for many. With 85% of the workforce dependent on farming for their livelihood, the sector is not only the primary source of employment but also essential for sustaining the economy and providing the means for survival. However, limited access to modern farming techniques, resources, and infrastructure often hampers agricultural productivity, leaving many families struggling to meet even their most basic needs. Despite these challenges, agriculture remains a vital pillar in the fight against poverty, offering potential for growth, food security, and economic stability if supported and developed further.
$23,300 was disbursed to uplift 40 Families
Bringing Hope and Sustainable Change
This generous support has made it possible to establish a pig farm and an accompanying workshop focused on animal care, which is already bringing hope and fostering sustainable change in these communities. The pig farm serves as a source of livelihood for local families, offering a steady income through the breeding and sale of pigs. In addition, the animal care workshop equips community members with the necessary skills and knowledge to properly care for livestock, ensuring that the farm operates efficiently and that animals are healthy and well-maintained. This initiative not only boosts the local economy but also helps create long-term, self-sustaining agricultural practices. By empowering families with skills and resources, the project is laying the foundation for a more prosperous future, reducing dependency on external aid, and creating opportunities for growth and stability. The pig farm and workshop stand as a symbol of resilience and the positive impact of community-driven, sustainable development.
