The recent events in Afghanistan and its worsening security situation have caused the flight of new Afghan refugees to Iran and Pakistan, many of them women and children. Having left behind all their belongings in Afghanistan, these refugees are in a great need of help especially in the sector of food security and access to water, sanitation and hygiene (WaSH).
Many Afghans continue to live in fear and anxiety. Already housing 1.4 million registered Afghan refugees, the Pakistan government fears that an additional 700,000 more may arrive if the situation worsens in Afghanistan.
Based on the needs analysis by Caritas teams and NGOs in the field, Caritas Pakistan has launched an emergency appeal to assist new Afghan Refugee families amidst the rising prices of basic commodities.
