TAAL VOLCANO ERUPTION IN THE PHILIPPINES

On the 12th of Jan 2020, Taal Volcano started spewing smoke and ashes, progressing into magmatic eruptions on the morning of 13th Jan 2020; prompting thousands of people to evacuate in the midst of a possible explosive eruption and volcanic tsunami. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) raised its alert level from level one to four out of five - meaning a "hazardous explosive eruption is possible within hours to days".
As of 14th Jan 2020, the government's disaster response agency counted more than 30,000 evacuees. Numbers are expected to increase.
