TYPHOON YAGI IN VIETNAM

2024

CHARIS partnered with the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) to deliver humanitarian aid to Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam from September 18 to 20, 2024, following Typhoon Yagi.

The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) supported the mission with 12 sorties, utilising an A330 Multi-Role Tanker Transport and two C-130 aircraft. Together, they transported 35 tonnes of relief aid.

The Changi Regional Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief Coordination Centre (RHCC) coordinated 20 tonnes of supplies from SAF and local NGOs, including CHARIS, while the Disaster Emergency Logistics System for ASEAN (DELSA) provided the remaining aid through the ASEAN AHA Centre. Minister for Defence, Dr. Ng Eng Hen highlighted the SAF’s readiness and praised the effective collaboration among RHCC, AHA Centre, and NGOs.

He expressed gratitude to partners and hoped the aid would offer comfort to those impacted by the typhoon.
